Final Story Idea

For my final story, I would like to write about the OMASH organization. I want to focus on how it has helped students majoring in the hospitality field after they have graduated. Look to see if the numbers are different for students who gained experience through this program compared to those who did not.

Kaitlin Feaster's Final Story Idea

For my final project I want to look into the increase of students who have applied for class disabilities, the increase in students who experience anxiety, ADD or ADHD throughout the course of being in college classes. For this story I would interview a variety of teachers and advisors in different departments for opinions and statistics. Also I would interview the health center.

Danielle's Final Story Idea

For my final story project I want write about the expansion of the sports football stadium and the future addition of the basketball stadium and get people's reaction to whether or not they like it and if they think the university should spend their money on these projects.  I would like to talk to students, teachers and possibly Ole Miss football and basketball coaches about this matter.

Final Story Idea

"How to Get a Building Named After Yourself"

An article looking into many of the university officials/donors, etc. that have buildings and streets on campus named after them. This article could possibly look into whether some people should have a building named after them that do (one example is James Vardaman, a senator and white supremacist for which Vardaman hall is named) and those who might deserve to have a building named after them that don't. I could interview somebody who knows the history of the university, perhaps somebody in the history department. I could interview somebody in the archives on the third floor of the library as well.

Final Story Idea

For my final story, I want to write about how football season impacts the city of Oxford and how businesses and restaurants will be effected when the season ends. Since so many people visit Oxford during football season, I want to find out how businesses, restaurants, and hotels survive during the off season. I plan to talk to the manager of one of our local hotels, the owner of a store such as Cat Daddy's or Rebel Rags that sells Oxford/Ole Miss apparel, and the owner of the new restaurant Jensei to see how their businesses are impacted.

Final Story Idea

I would like to write my final story on how Oxford/Ole Miss prepares for and gives back during the holiday season. It is important to know how to serve and celebrate our community and it is relevant to this time of year. I would like to interview residents of Oxford, students involved in community service organizations, and philanthropic organizations in Oxford like the Food Bank.

Final Story Idea

I would like to do my story on Dr. Ed Meek. He is what made most of our majors possible and not too many students know that much about him. My job will be to tell his story so the students of the "Meek" School of Journalism will better understand who he is and what he has done for the University of Mississippi. It will be relevant to do a story on him because his name will be on our diploma when we graduate and the students should be better informed on who he is and what he has done for us. I would speak with Robert Khyat (a good buddy of his,) his pastor, family, students, and teachers.

Final Story Idea

For my final story I would like to write about the new expansion of the honors college they are going to begin this year. This expansion is going to add more rooms and new technology for the honors college. The expansion is suppose to provide students with more resources and further their abilities. I would like to focus on what changes will be made, how it will affect the students, how it will provide better ways for them to learn, and what exactly the expansion includes. I want to get in inside scope on how the expansion will affect and help the students as well as professors. I would talk to the dean of the honors college, John Samonds, two professors, and also a few honors college students to get their intake.

Final Story Idea

For my final story, I want to focus on the primary health problems of students at Ole Miss. Whether that be physical or mental health problems. I think that this will be informative to all students, faculty members and maybe even some parents. This can help students understand what physical health problems that they are at risk of and also help them understand what the concept of stress can do to you. I will interview students, the student health center, Urgent Care and maybe even some faculty members to see if they notice any health risks in students.

Final Story IDEA

For my final story I want to focus on people who have grown up in Oxford their entire lives. I want to see how they have been affected growing up in a college town and why they decided to chose to go to Ole Miss.  Most of the time people are dying to get out of their hometowns and start something new. I am going to talk to Katie Krouss a sophomore at Ole Miss who has been born and raised in Oxford, along with other source she has given me. I am also going to talk with Meta Ginn, who went to Ole Miss but is not from Oxford, however she currently lives here with two children.

Final Story idea

For my final story I want to focus on the integration of sororities and farternities black and white.  I think the story appeals to every walk of life and that I can receive a lot of information that will be beneficial to students on the Ole Miss campus as a whole.

Final Story Idea

For the story I want to focus on the expansion efforts of the university and whether or not enough is being done to handle to growing number of people at Ole Miss. Its important because it affects every student here and how the university is going to change. For sources I would talk to students and faculty members such as the dean of students.
