Living
the Dream?
To many people, having a VP job at the
NFL means leading an exciting life. But
that may not be the case for 39 year old Renie Anderson.
Although her life is
exciting, it’s not what some of us might think.
After growing up in Kentucky and graduating from the University of
Mississippi in 1997, Anderson started working at a temporary secretary.
And after a couple of
interviews with big organizations such as the NFL and the NBA, Anderson finally
landed a job as assistant to past-commissioner David Baker.
“David told me that I
had three things to do, Balance his check book, pick his dry cleaning, and call
NFL owners in order to sell them AFL franchises,” said Anderson.
After much hard work
and integrity, Anderson is now the new VP of sales development for the NFL,
bringing in many top and leading companies from different industries. But bringing in these types of companies isn’t
easy.
“There’s a lot of work that goes into it,”
said Anderson.
Especially around the
time of the Superbowl; with almost 185 million fans, her job gets pretty
hectic. But the work doesn’t stop there.
Anderson is also a wife and mom of two. With daughters Callie, 6, and Kate, 4, one
can only imagine what goes down in the Anderson home on a regular basis.
Both of the girls are
in different sports clubs in which Anderson drives all around town picking them
up and dropping them off while also enjoying a good laugh about how
entertaining it is to watch her daughter do cartwheels during her soccer match.
For Anderson, life “on
and off the field” is hectic but she makes it work even though they’re not
perfect.
