Renie Anderson
By: Katie Lovett
Vice President and Business Development for the NFL, Renie Anderson never thought she would have the job she has today especially with her being the only hard-working women in her position.

Growing up in a small town in Kentucky, Anderson was not surrounded entirely by sports. Her life was living and working on a corn farm, started and still run by her father today.

When it was time to decide where she was going to college, Anderson and her parents decided that she needed to get out of state and go somewhere new. Ole Miss seemed like the perfect school that was not too far, yet just far enough away from home.

Anderson was a journalism major and thought her life long dream was to be a writer and author of mystery or romantic novels. Surprisingly, she ended up going down the path of managing sport businesses.

After college in Oxford, MS, Anderson moved to California where she found her first job as an AFL receptionist where she would balance checks, grab laundry and call NFL owners to get them to buy AFL franchise.

A receptionist did not seem like the job Anderson was hoping for so she packed up and moved to New York City where she landed her job she has now.

Her day-to-day life involves working in an office Monday-Friday, selling NFL logo to other companies to help represent the NFL on their own products and working the field on Sundays to see all of her brands that she has partnered with in action.

Even though Anderson is one of the few women working in her position today, she does not let that bother her. She likes to think of herself as an executive not a female executive.

“I know a lot of the guys who do my job and their great and they do a good job, but I just happen to look fabulous when I do mine,” she said.

As if her work life was not crazy enough, Anderson’s husband works in public relations for NBC and they have two young girls, six and four.

“Everyday is like, drinking from a fire hose,” she said.

Anderson’s favorite part of her job is negotiating deals with other companies. She says it is not easy but it is such an accomplishment when a deal is made with a new partner.

Even though Anderson works a persistent life style, she absolutely adores what she does.

“I will take everyday and give it 110 percent of my best each day,” she said.
